Illuminancestandard

Lux is a unit of illumination. When the luminous flux obtained on 1 square metre area is 1 lumen, its illuminance is 1 lux. In the design of stadium lighting, the aim is to achieve a uniform level of illumination throughout the field.

The beam Angle depends on the lamp mounting height.  If the lamp installed in the stadium is at a higher position, it usually has a smaller beam Angle. Heights range from 40 feet to 100 feet, and there may be 1 to 12 lights on each pole. 

1.Lux levels are usually divided into three categories

Class 1-Top level competition  

Class 2-Intermediate level competition

Class 3-lower level competitions and training grounds

If we take soccer and tennis for example (soccer is a big ball, tennis is a small ball), they will have different Lux demands.

2.As recommended by the lowest lighting level:

Class 1-500 lux football/500 lux tennis

Class 2-200 lux football/300 lux tennis

Class 3-75 lux football/200 lux tennis

For stadium lighting design, beam angle is very important. Beam angle is the angle at which light is distributed on the field. If the light installed in the stadium is relatively high, the beam angle is usually between 12° and 60°.The smaller the beam angle, the higher the light intensity within the angle.
